Senior Profile: Stephanie Bevan

-

What has been your most memorable moment as a senior this season?
Probably marching out at our first meet knowing this is my last season in gymnastics. I’ve been enjoying each and every meet thereafter.

Describe what it has been like being a senior leader this year.
As a senior, I aim to set a positive example in the gym and be someone my teammates can look to for advice. In meets, I try and look on my past experience to set the tone for the team.

With the season winding down, what are you most looking forward to in the upcoming weeks?
I’m looking forward to everything! Sunday is our last home meet of the season and the three seniors last meet in Kaplan Arena. I’m also looking forward to ECACs and USAGs. The team has really stepped up in the last couple of weeks, and I can’t wait to finish out the season on a high note.

What is your most memorable moment with the W&M gymnastics team?
My favorite moment was last year at USAGs. We qualified to team finals for the first time since I’ve been on the team. At finals we didn’t count a fall, and we beat Texas Women’s College! The whole team was working together as one, and we had a great time.

What does Tribe Pride mean to you?
Tribe pride means giving it your all every day you set foot in the gym, and having no regrets at the end of the day.

Of all your teammates, past and present, who have you learned the most from, and why?
Probably the seniors when I was a freshman. They helped me transition to college gymnastics, and taught me what it takes to be a Tribe gymnast.

What has been your favorite event?
Beam

Do you have any pre-meet rituals or superstitions?
I wear tribe pride socks at every meet.

Who has had the biggest impact on your gymnastics career?
My family. They have always been my biggest fans.

What do you enjoy doing most other than gymnastics?
Baking and hanging out with friends.

What is something interesting about you that few people know?
I am missing two teeth.

What is your favorite spot on the College’s campus?
Old Campus

What has been your favorite road trip while competing at W&M?
Penn State. Our bus broke down on the way to the meet, but we made the most of it and had fun. This is also the trip that created our team mascot, Coretta.

What do you think you’ll miss the most about your experience with gymnastics at W&M after you graduate?
My teammates

After you complete your collegiate gymnastics career, what would you like to do?
I would like to start running, and I’m thinking about going to nursing school, or doing something in the healthcare field.
