Former Tribe Standout Adin Brown Signs with Portland Timbers of the USL

“Adin is a tremendous goalkeeper, and while he is coming off surgery, the opportunity to sign him was too good to pass up,” said Gavin Wilkinson, Timbers head coach and general manager. “His ability and mentality have never been questioned, and when he is healthy he is one of the best goalkeepers in North America.”

At the College, Brown was a three-time All-American goalie for the Tribe, helping lead the Green and Gold to the CAA Championship in 1999. For his career, Brown holds the William and Mary record for most saves (417), shutouts (34), and save percentage (.841).

After graduating from William and Mary in 2000, Brown was selected with the third overall pick in the first round of the MLS SuperDraft by the Colorado Rapids. Brown would go on to play five seasons in the MLS with the Rapids, Tampa Bay Mutiny, and the New England Revolution before taking his game abroad to Norway.

Playing for Aalsunds FK, Brown was twice named the club’s player of the year in both 2006 and 2007 and was a finalist for the Norwegian Second Division Player of the Year in 2006.
