2008 Colonial Field Hockey Camp

- 2008 Public Transportation Information (PDF)
2008 Camp Medical Information Form (PDF)
2008 Camp Rules and Procedures (Parent's Please Read) (PDF)

The Colonial Field Hockey Camp at William & Mary is designed for participants aged 12-18 of all ability levels. Campers are grouped according to experience, ability, age, maturity and competitive spirit. Our goal is to challenge each player to improve her individual skills as well as her understanding of team concepts. A creative curriculum, small teaching ratios, and an energetic and knowledgeable staff ensure an optimal learning environment. There will be opportunities to play with and be coached by the best in the game!

Sessions focus on skill development to enhance individual play, and small games to teach the concepts and strategies of team play. Goalkeepers receive specialized individual and group training throughout the entire camp. Additional special sessions address varying topics such as sports psychology, team dynamics, international team experiences and video analysis. A “fun day” competition session and “skit night” round out the entire camp experience!

Nightly coached games culminate with a camp tournament on the last day. Campers from the same school may compete as a team(s) in the night games if the high school coach requests that arrangement.

The Colonial Field Hockey Camp is directed and administered by the field hockey coaching staff at the College of William and Mary, an NCAA Division I program. The camp is a proud sponsor of the National Field Hockey Coaches Association and is a partner camp of the United States Field Hockey Association. A small percentage of our campers can be recommended for participation in the USA Futures Program.

Testimonials:

"The William and Mary camp was amazing, I can't recall a camp where I learned so much about hockey, both skills and game strategies. My roommate and I wrote down everything we learned after each session and came up with about five pages of drills, skills, and game strategies. Thank you for the obvious amount of time you and the coaches put into organizing a quality camp. It was a great experience!"

“I enjoyed the field hockey camp that you hosted the week of June 22nd through the 25th. It was a blast. Thanks for assigning the wonderful coaches that I had (Laura, Kelly, Jules, and Tara) They were all fantastic!”

“This is our first year and I, as well as my daughter have been VERY impressed with the activities and protocol at every angle ! Your staff is incredibly courteous, knowledgeable and most helpful. They are truly on the ball in everything I have dealt with them on. My daughter calls me every break and is having a blast while learning SO much. Exhausted, but happy. Kudos to you and your staff. Thanks for your effort and hard work with a very successful camp.” Vicki Chohany

“Peel, thanks so much for running a great camp. I am totally impressed with your organization and communication. Our field hockey player is the youngest of three daughters who play different sports and have different interests. That means we've seen a few camp set ups! Yours seems to be the most well run. My daughter is a commuter, and she's had a great time at the camp. We signed her up for both sessions and then wondered after the fact if that was the right choice. She's convinced it was...she's ready to roll for second session!” Thanks, Ellen Roberts

“I just wanted to say congrats on a fabulous camp. I haven't ever really worked any other camp until now...and I now know that William and Mary camp is amazing and way ahead of any others. The organization and energy of the camp is truly unique. Please pass on my congrats to Quan and Tess also...I am truly impressed.”
