W&M Field Hockey to Play at Delaware and Towson this Weekend

- William and Mary’s field hockey team, ranked as high as 13th in the nation, will travel to face a pair of Colonial Athletic Association opponents this weekend ... The Tribe will face 14th-ranked Delaware on Friday at 7:00 PM and will play at Towson Sunday at 1:00 PM.

W&M enters this weekend’s play with a record of 8-4 ... The Tribe is currently tied with Old Dominion and Delaware for first place in the CAA with a record of 2-0 ... W&M is riding a three-game winning streak, including victories over No. 12 Virginia (5-4), Drexel (4-2) and No. 19 Hofstra (5-1) ... Friday’s game at 14th-ranked Delaware will be the Green and Gold’s fourth against a ranked opponent in the last five contests ... Tribe junior Kelly Giles was named the CAA Player of the Week on Monday, following a week in which she scored three goals and three assists ... She had one assist and two goals (including the game-winner) in the win at Virginia, while scoring the game-winning goal and two more assists in the win over Hosftra ... Giles leads the team with 22 points on nine goals and four assists this season ... Senior Ginny Sutton is second with 16 points on seven goals and two assists ... Junior Shannon Karl has a team-high six assists, to go with two goals for a total of 14 points ... Junior Anna Davis made two saves in the win over Hofstra, giving her three for the season, tied for 14th in the nation entering the week ... Senior Heather Kibbee has started 11 games for W&M this season with a 1.85 goals against average, 43 saves and two shutouts.
About the Blue Hens
Delaware will enter Friday’s game with a record of 4-8 overall and is tied with W&M and Old Dominion for first place in the CAA with a 2-0 conference record ... The Blue Hens are ranked 14th in the national coaches poll and are 15th in the womensfieldhockey.com national rankings ... UD has won its last three games, winth victories over Rutgers (1-0), Virginia Commonwealth (4-0) and James Madison (2-1, OT) ... Amanda Warrington leads the team in scoring with 17 points (8g, 1a), followed by Lauren Carr with 16 points (6g, 4a) ... Megan Allen has played every minute in goal for the Blue Hens with a 1.13 GAA, 64 saves and six shutouts.
About the Tigers
Towson enters the weekend with a record of 4-8 overall and 0-2 in the CAA ... The Tigers lost a pair of conference games on the road last weekend against Virginia Commonwealth (2-1, OT) and James Madison (2-0) ... Julie Lambi leads the team in scoring with 24 points on eight goals and eight assists ... Christina Armer has played most of the season in goal for Towson with a 2.40 GAA, 102 saves and two shutouts.
The Delaware Series
W&M is 4-2-0 all-time against Delaware ... Last year the Tribe ended its season with a heartbreaking, 2-1, double-overtime loss to the Blue Hens in the semifinals of the CAA Tournament ... During the regular season, W&M defeated UD, 2-1, in Williamsburg on October 10 ... The series between the two teams began with a 5-3 Delaware win in Richmond on September 6, 1997.

W&M has won all 11 of its previous meetings with Towson ... Last season the Tribe defeated the Tigers, 5-1, in Williamsburg on October 12 ... The series between the two teams started with a 3-0 W&M win at Towson on September 24, 1976.

I-95 South to Delaware exit 1-B, Route 896 north. The David Nelson Athletic Complex, marked by the Bob Carpenter Sports/Convocation Center, is located on the right just after Routes 4/896 intersection.
From the South and the West
I-95 North to Maryland Exit 109B, Route 279 north (also called Route 2). Proceed on this road which becomes Elkton Road into Newark. Turn right at the intersection of Routes 2 (279) and 4. Turn left at intersection of Routes 4/896. The David Nelson Athletic Complex, marked by the Bob Carpenter Sports/Convocation Center, is located on the right.

Follow I-81 South until it intersects with I-83 in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. Follow I-83 South until you see signs for the Baltimore Beltway, I-695. Take the I-695 Towson ramp, staying in the right lane to exit immediately onto Charles Street. Bearing right off the ramp, follow Charles Street south for 1.5 miles (from first traffic light) to Towsontowne Boulevard. Turn left at the traffic signal (you can’t turn right because Towsontowne dead ends into Charles Street). Proceed on Towsontowne Boulevard seven-tenths of a mile to the next traffic light. Turn right on to Osler Drive and proceed one-half mile to Auburn Drive. Take a right onto Auburn.The Towson Center is just over the hill on the right and Johnny Unitas Stadium is on left.
From New York City, New Jersey, Philadelphia and Delaware
Follow I-95 South to the Baltimore Beltway, I-695 West (extreme right lane as you approach I-695). Follow I-695 towards Towson (this is clearly marked) to Exit 25 Charles Street. At the end of the ramp at the stop sign, turn left and then make another left at the round about on to Charles Street. Follow Charles Street south for 1.7 miles to Towsontowne Boulevard. Turn left at the traffic signal (you can’t turn right because Towsontowne dead ends into Charles Street). Proceed on Towsontowne Boulevard seven-tenths of a mile to the next traffic light. Turn right on to Osler Drive and proceed one-half mile to Auburn Drive. Take a right onto Auburn. The Towson Center is just over the hill on the right and Johnny Unitas Stadium is on left.
From Washington, D.C., Richmond
Proceed on I-95 North to the Baltimore Beltway, I-695. Exit left (exit is on left) on to I-695 towards Towson to Charles Street (Exit 25 off I-695). Follow Interstate 70 East past Hagerstown and Frederick. I-70 deadends at the Baltimore Beltway I-695. Eventually bear left towards Towson (signs clearly indicate direction to Towson) as you approach I-695. Proceed on I-695 to Charles Street (Exit 25 off I-695). Bear right off the ramp on to Charles Street. Follow Charles Street south for 1.5 miles (from first traffic light) to Towsontowne Boulevard. Turn left at the traffic signal (you can’t turn right because Towsontowne dead ends into Charles St). Proceed on Towsontowne Boulevard seven-tenths of a mile to the next traffic light.
