Women’s Soccer Receives At-Large Bid To NCAA Tournament

WILLIAMSBURG, VA - The William and Mary women’s soccer team received an at-large bid to the 2004 NCAA Tournament, and will travel to Chapel Hill, North Carolina to face the Virginia Tech Hokies (11-8) Thursday at a time to be determined by the University of North Carolina. The Tar Heels will face Campbell (11-1-7) in the other match on Thursday, with the two winners meeting on Saturday.

The Tribe will make its 13th-consecutive NCAA Tournament appearance after compiling an 11-6-4 record overall and a 5-2-2 mark in the Colonial Athletic Association, which was tied for third.

“I am elated for the players,” stated head coach John Daly. “These kids worked hard all year and did not deserve to be on the outside looking in. It’s up to us to show that we belong in field of 64.”

This will be the fourth-straight year that the College will open the tournament at an Atlantic Coast Conference venue, and against an ACC opponent. It is the second time in three years that it will open in Chapel Hill.
