Tribe Gymnast Padilla Named Academic All-District

Padilla Eligible for CoSIDA Academic All-America Honors

Williamsburg - William and Mary gymnast Christina Padilla (Sterling, Va.) has been named to the ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District women's at-large team, announced by the College Sports Information Director’s of America (CoSIDA) this afternoon.

Padilla, a 2006 Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference Scholar Athlete of the Year, was a District Three First Team selection and is now eligible for CoSIDA Academic All-America honors based on her district first team award.

The 2005 ECAC Vault Champion, Padilla carries a 3.98 GPA, majoring in neuroscience and kinesiology. Padilla is a three-time ECAC All-Academic Team selection and has also been named a NACGC National Scholar Athlete the past three seasons.

Padilla earned USAG All-America honors on both vault and bars this season and captured her second-straight All-ECAC citation, taking second team honors on vault after last season’s individual title. She ranked seventh in the ECAC on vault, based on regional qualifying scores (9.660), and ninth in the conference on bars (9.601).

Voting for the CoSIDA Academic All-America Women’s At-Large team begins on May 30th.
