Hurley, Massam Earn Weekly Honors from CAA

RICHMOND, VA - The Colonial Athletic Association announced the first winners of its Runner of the Week awards program today, after all schools were in action last weekend. William and Mary had two scholar-athletes honored, as junior Kaitlin Hurley (Portland, OR) earned the award for Women’s Runner of the Week, and freshman Ben Massam (Chatham, NJ) was picked as the Men’s Rookie of the Week.

Hurley led the Tribe women to a third-place finish on Saturday at the Lou Onesty Invitational, pulling across the finish line in 18:39.30 for 12th place. She earned her first all-conference nod last season in helping the Tribe to its third-straight CAA championship, and was the team’s fourth finisher at the NCAA Championships. This is her first Runner of the Week award.

Massam started his collegiate career in a big way, leading the Tribe at the Lou Onesty Invitational and finishing in 25:19, good for seventh place. Last summer, Massam won the 5,000m race at the Nike Outdoor Nationals, and was second at the New Jersey Meet of Champions in cross country. This is his first Rookie of the Week award.
