#22 William and Mary Wins Colonial Inter-Regional

WILLIAMSBURG - The 22nd-ranked William and Mary men’s cross country team dominated the field at the Colonial Inter-Regional today, cruising to a 16-point upset victory over No. 13 Georgetown.

2004 All-American Christo Landry (Falls Church, VA) overtook and out-kicked LaSalle’s Sean Quigley to win the eight kilometer race in 23:51.4. This was the first collegiate win of Landry’s career. Also finishing in the top five, defending Colonial Athletic Association champion Ian Fitzgerald (Glenshaw, PA) ran 24:11.1 to claim fourth. Dave Mock (Johnstown, PA) and Anthony Arena (Manassas, VA) crossed the line a half-second apart in sixth and seventh, and senior Dan Nally (Warrenton, VA) completed the scoring for W&M in 12th place. Seniors Sean Anastasia-Murphy (Gloucester, MA), Matt Wolak (Richmond, VA), and Joel Parker (Portsmouth, VA) also finished in the top 20.

William and Mary returns to action on October 14, when the team’s top echelon of runners travels to the Brooks Pre-National Invitational in Terre Haute, Indiana, and the rest of the squad competes in Williamsburg at the Tribe Open.
