Men’s Cross Country Moves Up Three Spots in National Polls

WILLIAMSBURG - After winning the Colonial Inter-Regional Challenge in convincing fashion last weekend, and upsetting No. 13 Georgetown in the process, the William and Mary men’s cross country team moved up three spots in the USTFCCCA national poll to No. 19. Wisconsin held onto the top spot, and the aforementioned Hoyas fell two to No. 15.

Despite the win last weekend, the Tribe fell two spots in the region rankings to third, behind Virginia and North Carolina State. The last time W&M wasn’t ranked first in the region was heading into the regional championship last season when it was ranked second. The last time the Tribe was ranked third or lower was in the October 18 poll in 2004, when the College was ranked fourth.

William and Mary is off this weekend, but returns to action in two races on October 14. The team’s top runners will travel to Terre Haute, Indiana for the Brooks Pre-National Invitational, while the rest of the team will be in Williamsburg hosting the Tribe Open.
