William and Mary “B” Team Easily Handles Tribe Open

Schoener Take Individual Title as Team Wins

WILLIAMSBURG - On a beautiful fall day, the William and Mary men’s cross country team won its second straight Tribe Open title, defeating Virginia’s “B” team by ten points.

Senior Jason Schoener (Grand Blanc, MI) earned his fourth career victory, and second at the Tribe Open, by crossing the line in 25:05.8, almost 18 seconds ahead of the next finisher. Junior James Picard (Midlothian, VA) finished just outside of the top five, taking sixth in 25:28.1. David Groff (Centreville, VA) also finished in the top ten, taking 10th place in 25:35.1, and Karl Lang (Oak Hill, VA) finished 12th in 25:39.6. Sophomore Bryce Wilk (Millbrook, NY) finished the scoring for the Tribe in 16th, and freshman Ben Massam (Chatham, NJ) rounded out the squad with a time of 26:25.2.

William and Mary returns to action on October 27 when it aims for a seventh-consecutive Colonial Athletic Association title in the conference championship in Newark, Delaware.
