Women’s Golf Finishes 12th at Ross Resorts Invitational

Paolini Leads Tribe Past James Madison

SOUTHERN PINES, N.C. - Halloween did indeed serve the William and Mary women’s golf team a treat, as it moved past James Madison to finish 12th at the Ross Resorts Invitational this morning. The Tribe improved between every round to engineer the movement, posting the team’s three best rounds of the fall. Host school Rollins claimed the team championship and the individual medalist, posting an aggregate of 902 (+38) to win by five strokes over Princeton as Vanessa Vela shot 218 (+2) to win by six strokes.

Brielle Paolini (Virginia Beach, Va.) shot 81 in the final round to maintain her position as the top Tribe finisher in a tie for 46th. Melissa DePuy (Naples, Fla.) matched that 81 with one of her own to finish one stroke behind Paolini in a tie for 50th. Morgan Stepanek (Guilford, Conn.) carded 80, the best round of her collegiate career, to move one stroke ahead of Misha Harvey (Forest, Va.), who finished tied for 61st. Rounding out the team, Robyn English (Warwick, R.I.) improved three strokes and two spots in the standings from the second round when she shot 83 this morning.

With the fall season now over, William and Mary will return to action at the Fighting Camel Classic, February 26-27 in Buies Creek, North Carolina.
