Women’s Cross Country Second at ECAC Championships

BRONX, N.Y. - William and Mary’s women’s cross country team finished their season on a high note yesterday, taking second, their highest finish ever, at the ECAC Championships in Van Cortlandt Park. The Tribe was only four points away from winning the title, but were beaten out by Cornell. Princeton’s Reilly Kiernan won the 5K race in 17:56.9

The College was led in the race, as in so many races before over the past two years, by senior Meghan Bishop (Blue Bell, Pa.), who took fourth in 18:07.9. Juniors Emily Gousen (Arlington, Va.) and Kaitlin Hurley (Portland, Ore.) also placed in the top 10, finishing ninth and tenth, respectively. Freshman Anna Brousell (Wilmington, Del.) gave the Tribe four harriers on the All-East team (top 25 finishers) by finishing 15th in 18:35.1.

Sophomore Emily Schroeder (Midlothian, Va.) was the fifth scorer for the College, crossing the line in 29th place, and senior Anna Parker (Charlotte, N.C.) drew her cross country career to a close by finishing 31st in 18:47.8. Erin Prillaman (Midlothian, Va.) was 40th, and freshman Kayley Byrne (Oak Hill, Va.) rounded out the Tribe effort in 64th.

William and Mary’s season concludes on Monday at the NCAA Championships.
