Annapolis, Md. - The College of William and Mary’s men’s gymnastics squad opened its 2007 season in a tri-meet at the Naval Academy by placing second with a team score of 186.65 on Saturday afternoon.

The hosting Midshipmen posted the afternoon’s top score, compling a six-event total of 194.05, while James Madison finished third with a score of 159.250. The College now sits at 1-1 on the year.

As a team, the College posted meet high scores on both the vault (32.85) and the parallel bars (30.30). The Naval Academy took the remaining four apparatus as a team.

Individually, junior Andrew Hunt (Upper Black Eddy, PA) posted the College’s only first place performance at the event, as his mark of 8.45 paced the field. Hunt turned in a solid effort on the high bar, placing fourth with a mark of 8.05.

Promising sophomores, James Prim (Hendersonville, NC) and Sloan Crawford (Burlington, Ontario) each grabbed silver on the afternoon, as Prim was the runner-up on the rings with a mark of 8.35; while Crawford flipped to a second-place mark of 8.55 on the floor exercise.

Junior all-arounder Aaron Ingram (Paxton, Mass.) had a pair of fourth-place efforts, as he posted a 7.7 on the pommel horse and a 8.15 on the ring event. Crawford rounded out a very good season debut by also placing fourth on the vault with a mark of 8.8.
