Women’s Golf Finishes 10th at Red Rocks

Stepanek Leads Tribe at +16

SEDONA, ARIZ - William and Mary’s women’s golf team finished its first tournament of the spring in 10th place today at the Red Rocks Invitational, combining to shoot +69 in the 36-hole event. 30th-ranked Northwestern won the 16-team invitational with a score of 501 (+25), and Wildcat golfer Liliana Alvarez was the individual medalist after tying for first place with a score of 147 (+3).

Freshman Morgan Stepanek (Guilford, Conn.) moved into the team lead after shooting a collegiate-best 78 on Sunday, finishing the tournament tied for 35th at +16. One shot back was classmate Brielle Paolini (Virginia Beach, Va.), tied for 39th. Senior captain Melissa DePuy (Naples, Fla.) improved three strokes between rounds to finish tied for 48th. Junior Misha Harvey (Forest, Va.) was tied for 62nd, and classmate Erika Oldenkamp (Hinsdale, Ill.) improved three strokes to finish tied for 65th at 169.

William and Mary returns to Arizona next week for the Bobcat Desert Classic in Phoenix, March 12-14.
