Padilla Receives Weekly ECAC Award

Senior Tied For First On Bars Last Weekend at Towson

Williamsburg - William and Mary senior gymnast Christina Padilla (Sterling, Va.) was named the ECAC Specialist of the Week on Thursday for her efforts in the Tribe’s competition at Towson last weekend.

Padilla scored a career-high 9.825 on bars to share the individual title and help lead the Tribe to a victory over James Madison. In addition to standing as a personal best, Padilla’s mark matched the ninth best score in school history. She also notched a 9.550 to tie for eighth place on vault.

The Tribe’s most consistent performer in both events this season, Padilla holds the squad’s top regional qualifying score on both vault (9.465) and bars (9.425). Last night, Padilla scored a season-high 9.800 on vault to place third in a dual meet against Towson.

The award marks the second this season for Padilla, who was also named the specialist of the week back on Jan. 24.
