Tribe Men’s Gymnastics Posts Season High Score

WEST POINT, N.Y. - The College of William and Mary’s 15th-ranked men’s gymnastics program put together a solid team effort to piece together a season high score of 197.80 to finish second in a tri-meet hosted by Army on Saturday afternoon.

The hosting Cadets won the meet with a team score of 200.50, while the James Madison Dukes rounded out the field with a team score of 165.00. The Tribe now sports an overall record of 7-6.

Despite injuries to both his hip and ankle, junior Dave Locke (Natick, MA) may well have provided the inspirational per-formances on the afternoon for the squad, as he gutted out a pair of meet-high scores in both the floor exercise (8.9) and vault (8.55). James Prim took the afternoon’s top honor on the rings, as he muscled out a solid 8.950 effort.

Sophomore Sloan Crawford (Burlington, Ontario) continued to shine in 2007, as he put up the team’s top high bar score (8.10) and second best floor (8.80) and pommel horse (8.45) routines.

Senior Dave Ridings (Parkton, MD) spun to the team’s top score on the pommel horse (8.30) and also was strong on the parellel bars (8.40). Junior Andrew Hunt (Upper Black Eddy, PA) was the team’s point leader on the afternoon, as he competed in a total of four events (FX, R, PB and HB). Hunt was the team’s leader on the parallel bars (8.40) and scored over 8.0 on both the floor (8.30) and rings (8.10).

The College will be in competition again tomorrow afternoon, as they will make the four hour drive to Springfield, MA for a tri meet with Springfield College and MIT.
