Padilla Tabbed By ECAC Once Again

Senior Placed First on Vault vs. JMU To Earn Third Specialist Award

Williamsburg - William and Mary senior gymnast Christina Padilla (Sterling, Va.) was named the ECAC Specialist of the Week for the third time this season on Thursday for her performance in the Tribe’s competition against James Madison last week.

Padilla was the top finisher on vault, notching a 9.700 to earn her second individual event title in as many weeks. She also placed third on bars with a strong 9.725 to help the Tribe post a season-high total of 190.00 in the dual meet victory.

One of the team’s most consistent scorers in both events this season, Padilla was also named the specialist of the week on March 8th after she scored a career-high 9.825 on bars to share the individual title and help lead the Tribe to a victory over the Dukes on March 2nd.

Padilla holds the squad’s top regional qualifying score on vault (9.720) and the third-best RQS on bars (9.670). Her RQS on vault is the fifth best average in the ECAC.

Padilla was also named the specialist of the week back on Jan. 24.

W&M returns to action on Friday night, traveling to UNC in the final regular season competition before the ECAC Championship on March 31st.
