Tribe Men’s Gymnastics Finishes Fifth at ECACs

Philadelphia, Pa. - The College of William and Mary’s men’s gymnastics squad ended the team portion of its 2007 season by finishing in fifth place this afternoon with a team score of 197.80 at the Eastern College Athletics Conference Championships held on the campus on Temple University.

The hosting Owls of Temple University captured the team title with a score of 208.40, while the University of Illinois-Chicago finished second with a score of 202.70. Two service academies, Army and Navy, finished third and fourth with scores of 200.30 and 198.75, respec-tively.

The fifth place finish ends the College’s bid for a second consecutive ECAC Team Championship, but the team still can count the 2007 season as a success, as it captured its 34th consecutive Virginia State Championship and earned its 11th USA Gymnastics Collegiate Team Championship since 1994.

The ECAC event will continue tomorrow (Sunday, April 1) with the individual event championships.
