Men’s Golf Finishes Eighth at Marshall Invitational

HUNTINGTON, WVA - The snow held off in Huntington just long enough for the teams to finish the second round today at the Marshall Invitational, but then commenced with a vengeance, forcing the cancellation of the third and final round. William and Mary moved up two places in the standings to finish eighth, only nine strokes behind the runners-up. Penn State won by 12 strokes in the field of 16 teams, and also boasted the individual medalist in Robert Rohanna, who shot 69-68 to finish at 5-under.

Sophomore Doug Hurson (Bethesda, Md.) hit 70 in his second round to move up into eighth place to lead the Tribe. Senior Ryan Price (Chantilly, Va.) finished tied for 14th at 4-over, one stroke ahead of Brent Paladino (Kensington, Conn.), who shot 74-73 while fighting a back injury suffered in the first round of last weekend’s tournament at Towson. Senior captain Matt Brantingham (Richmond, Va.) finished tied for 75th at 13-over, and junior Jimmy Femino (Manassas, Va.) finished one stroke behind him after improving four shots between rounds.

William and Mary will now have two weeks to prepare for the Colonial Athletic Association Championships, being held this year at The Homestead in Hot Springs, Virginia, April 20-22.
