Women’s Golf In Fifth at CAA Championships

Oldenkamp, Stepanek Two Shots Behind Leader

HOT SPRINGS, VA - William and Mary sits in fifth place at the Colonial Athletic Association Championships after the first round of action Friday at The Homestead. UNC Wilmington holds a five-shot clubhouse lead over Xavier with two rounds left to play. Lauren Folgosa of Richmond is the individual leader after shooting a 3-over 75.

Junior Erika Oldenkamp (Hinsdale, Ill.) and freshman Morgan Stepanek (Guilford, Conn.) were the Tribe’s top golfers in the first round, shooting 77 to stand tied for sixth. Junior Marissa Sprick (Windermere, Fla.) is tied for 23rd after carding 81, and senior captain Melissa DePuy (Naples, Fla.) is tied for 28th with 84 strokes. Freshman Brielle Paolini (Virginia Beach, Va.) rounds out the team effort in a tie for 36th with a round-score of 87.

The CAA Championships continue with one round on Saturday and one on Sunday.
