Padilla, Waldman Compete at USAG Individuals

Duo Earned First-Team USAG All-America Honors

Seattle - William and Mary gymnasts Christina Padilla (Sterling, Va.) and Stevie Waldman (Downingtown, Pa.) competed in the individual finals of the USAG Collegiate National Championship last night at Seattle Pacific, earning First-Team USAG All-America honors.

Padilla, who advanced to the individual finals by finishing in the top five of the team preliminaries Thursday night, earned USAG All-America honors on both vault and bars for the second-straight season. On Saturday night, Padilla capped a marvelous four-year career with a sixth-place finish on vault, scoring a 9.600. She was 10th on bars with a mark of 9.225.

Waldman, who tied for sixth on floor Thursday, was added to the floor line-up last night after another competitor was scratched from the event and earned second USAG All-America honor. After competing in the NCAA Southeast Regional last weekend, Waldman was 10th on floor last night.

W&M competed in the team preliminaries Thursday night and placed fourth in a very competitive second session. W&M recorded a total score of 189.100, which was seventh overall in the eight-team prelim.

Junior Tricia Long (Humble, Texas) earned Second-Team USAG All-America honors in the all-around, and freshman Ali Medeiros (Hudson, Ohio) was also declared a Second-Team USAG All-American on bars.
