Men’s Golf Finishes Fifth at CAA Championships

HOT SPRINGS, VA - William and Mary shot 295 in Sunday’s final round to finish the 2007 Colonial Athletic Association Championships in fifth place. Old Dominion shot 283 in the final round to claim its first conference title since 2003 with a four-stroke upset over 24th-ranked Georgia State. The Monarch’s John Murphy took a four-stroke victory for the individual medal, shooting 210 (Even).

Sophomore Brent Paladino (Kensington, Conn.) finished with a round of 69 to improve to fifth place and earn a place on the All-Tournament team. Classmate Doug Hurson (Bethesda, Md.) shot 73 and finished tied for sixth, one shot back. Senior Ryan Price (Chantilly, Va.) shot 77 to finish alone in 30th. Junior Jimmy Femino (Manassas, Va.) tied for 33rd after shooting 76, and senior captain Matt Brantingham (Richmond, Va.) rounded out the team in a tie for 42nd.

The Tribe is back in action next weekend, April 28-29, at the Cavalier Classic in Charlottesville, Virginia.
