Katie Radloff Named Mid-Major All-American

WILLIAMSBURG - One week after being named the Colonial Athletic Association Swimmer of the Year, freshman Katie Radloff (Arlington, Va.) received another honor for her stellar first season, and was named to the CollegeSwimming.com Mid-Major All-America team.

Radloff won 27 dual-meet races, including an undefeated 24-0 in the sprint freestyles. She is the CAA Champion at 50, 100, and 200 yards in freestyle, and teamed for championships in the 200 medley, 400 freestyle, and 800 freestyle relays en route to be named the Swimmer of the Meet. In March, she was selected for the NCAA Championships in the 50, 100, and 200 free, becoming the first William and Mary swimmer since Erin Sheehey ’84 in 1983 to be invited to the national meet.

Radloff joins Drexel’s Kate Hynes and George Mason’s Tom Koucheravy as representatives from the CAA on the teams. The state of Virginia has four athletes represented, with Richmond’s Lauren Beaudreau and Jessica Witt joining Radloff and Koucheravy. Princeton’s Alicia Aemisegger and UC Santa Barbara’s Pat Cary were named the 2007 Mid-Major Swimmers of the Year.

The 38 members of the men’s and women’s teams were selected on the basis of qualifying for the NCAA Championships. All athletes from conferences that aren’t parted of the football Bowl Championship Series are eligible, as are athletes from schools that give less than seven women’s or five men’s scholarships.
