Brent Paladino Qualifies for U.S. Amateur Public Links

MERIDIAN, CONN - Rising junior Brent Paladino (Kensington, Conn.) won his third consecutive ticket to the U.S. Amateur Public Links Championship on Tuesday, posting a two-stroke victory over the sectional field at the Hunter Memorial Golf Course. He is the first W&M golfer to qualify for the tournament three years in a row.

Paladino shot 68-69 in the two-day qualifying tournament to finish at five-under, a pair of shots ahead of his younger brother Cody. He will attempt to better last year’s run to the match-play quarterfinals when the APL kicks off this year, July 9-14 at Cantigny Golf Club in Wheaton, Illinois.

Paladino is ranked fifth all-time at the College with a stroke average of 74.82 after just two seasons, and placed fifth at the 2007 Colonial Athletic Association Championships to make the all-tournament team.
