Tribe Lacrosse Names 2008 Team Captains

Fall Practice Season Begins Sept. 17

WILLIAMSBURG - William and Mary head lacrosse coach Christine Halfpenny has announced the selections of senior defender Ashley Bolton (Narbeth, Pa.), senior midfielder Jaime Sellers (Kennebunk, Maine) and junior defender Kate Lawlor (Philadelphia, Pa.) as team captains for the 2008 season. The trio was chosen through a vote by team members and the coaching staff.

“I am very excited about our 2008 team captains,” said Halfpenny. “Overall, they are outstanding role models to our younger players. They work hard on the field and continuously work with the coaching staff to better themselves and the team. Each captain carries different strengths, and together they will balance each other very well.”

Bolton is a three-year starter and former CAA All-Rookie Team selection. Sellers emerged as one of the top offensive players in the league last spring, earning Second-Team All-CAA honors after scoring a career-high 35 goals, including a tally in each of the Tribe’s 16 games. Lawlor was one of only three field players to start all 16 games last year and recorded career-highs in ground balls (17) and caused turnovers (6).

The Tribe officially begins the fall practice season on Sept. 17, and W&M will once again play a number of autumn exhibition games both home and away. Click here to view the fall schedule.
