No. 24 Tribe Set to Host Albany on Wednesday

WILLIAMSBURG, Va. - The 24th-ranked William and Mary women’s soccer team will look to extend its winning streak to four matches when it hosts Albany on Wednesday evening at 7 p.m.

Last weekend, the Tribe (4-2) claimed top honors at the VCU/Ewing Sports Invitational with triumphs against No. 2 North Carolina and Navy. Junior Claire Zimmeck tallied three goals at the event, including the game-winners in both contests. Additionally, junior goalkeeper Meghan Walker did not allow any scores and was selected as the tournament’s most valuable player. Zimmeck, Danielle Collins and Abby Lauer joined Walker on the all-tournament team. Walker was also honored as the Colonial Athletic Association Player of the Week.

During the College’s three-match winning streak, it has not allowed any goals. Additionally, the Green and Gold have blanked the opposition in four of its six contests this season.

Zimmeck currently ranks tied for the third in the conference with four goals, while senior Emily Kittleson is tied for fourth in assists (three).

Albany enters Wednesday’s match with a 3-2-2 record. Teresa Boring, the reigning America East Rookie of the Week, leads the team with 11 points on five goals and an assist.

Wednesday’s contest will mark the first-ever meeting between the Tribe and UA.
