Tribe Set to Host VCU on Wednesday at 7 p.m.

WILLIAMSBURG, Va. - After opening its conference slate with a pair of victories last weekend, the William and Mary volleyball team will look for continued success when it hosts VCU on Wednesday at 7 p.m.

Last weekend, the Tribe (7-8, 2-0) extended its winning streak to three matches with a 3-0 triumph at UNC Wilmington and a 3-1 victory at Georgia State. Junior Kim Mount came up big in the wins, averaging 14.57 assists per game en route to earning Colonial Athletic Association Co-Player of the Week accolades. Her best performance came against UNCW when she dished out 53 assists, while she recorded a double-double versus the Panthers. Freshman Ginny Bray also played well last week and was selected as the league's Rookie of the Week after averaging 3.3 kills per game on .349 hitting.

As a team, the Tribe currently ranks second in the CAA in digs (18.02 dpg), third in assists (13.47 apg) and fourth in kills (14.58 kpg) and blocks (2.33 bpg).

Individually, freshman Cassie Crumal ranks second in the conference with 12.15 apg, while Bray is fifth with 1.09 bpg. Junior Jill Nowadly stands seventh in digs (3.84 dpg), and freshman Erin Skipper ranks seventh in kills (3.41 kpg).

VCU enters Wednesday’s match with a 3-11 record overall and a 1-1 mark in conference play. Last weekend, the Rams defeated UNCW, 3-0, but fell to Georgia State, 3-1. The victory against the Panthers snapped a five game losing streak for VCU. Ariel Newman leads the team with 2.80 kpg, while Elisa Kuehnel is averaging 2.34 kpg.
