Women’s Cross Country Takes Third at Colonial Inter-Regional

WILLIAMSBURG - William and Mary’s women’s cross country team ran very well Saturday at the Colonial Inter-Regional, coming within 12 points of upsetting 20th-ranked Georgetown. The Tribe finished third in the 10-team race, behind the Hoyas and team champion Virginia Tech. Tazmin Fanning won the individual title for the Hokies, cruising across the finish line in 20:21.3.

Senior Emily Gousen (Arlington, Va.) was the Tribe’s top finisher, placing fourth in 21:28.3. Her time on the six kilometer course was an improvement by more than minute over her winning time at last year’s Tribe Open. Sophomore Emily Anderson (Golf, Ill.) ran second for the Green and Gold, finishing seventh in 21:35.7. Lynn Morelli (Philadelphia, Pa.) was 15th in 22:04.2, and the Tribe’s scoring was finished with the duo of senior Erin Prillaman (Midlothian, Va.) and sophomore Kayley Byrne (Oakton, Va.), who finished 18th and 23rd, respectively. Junior Rebecca Ward (Midlothian, Va.), 24th in 22:26.8, and senior Abby Booker (Haddonfield, N.J.), 25th in 22:28.7, rounded out the College’s top seven.

William and Mary has next weekend off, before traveling to the Pre-National Invitational, October 15 in Terre Haute, Indiana. Also on October 15, the College will host teams from around the state in the Tribe Open.
