Emily Gousen Earns Second Runner of the Week Honor

RICHMOND, VA - Senior Emily Gousen (Arlington, Va.) earned her second Runner of the Week award from the Colonial Athletic Association on Tuesday, as announced by the league office. She shares this week’s award with Georgia State senior Rachel Hannah.

Gousen led the Tribe to a third-place finish Saturday at the Colonial Inter-Regional Challenge, finishing fourth overall. She ran 21:28.3 on the six kilometer course, 70 seconds better than the 22:38.5 she posted to win last year’s Tribe Open.

So far this season, Gousen has earned CAA Runner of the Week honors after each of her two appearances. On September 8, Gousen set a personal-record for five kilometers in taking second at the Lou Onesty Invitational in 18:06.5, and shared the weekly award with Towson’s Katie Ogden.

Gousen and the Tribe return to action on October 13 at the Pre-National Invitational, in Terre Haute, Indiana. On that same day, those runners who don’t make the trip out will compete in Williamsburg at the Tribe Open.
