Tribe Duo Advances to Quarterfinals at All-American Championships

Megan Moulton-Levy and Katarina Zoricic won their opening round match on Oct. 4.

Pacific Palisades, Calif. - The William and Mary women’s tennis duo of senior Megan Moulton-Levy and junior Katarina Zoricic moved into the quarterfinals of the Riviera/ITA All-American Doubles Championship with a victory on Thursday. The All-American Championships are being played at the Riviera Tennis Club in Pacific Palisades, Calif.

The No. 1-ranked pair nationally defeated the No. 25-ranked Arkansas tandem of Maryori Franco and Nanar Airapetian, 8-3, to open the All-American Championships. It was the first match of the season for Moulton-Levy and Zoricic. The W&M team will face the No. 13-ranked LSU team of Hannah Robinson and Megan Falcon in the quarterfinals on Friday, Oct. 5. The Tiger duo defeated Melissa Mang and Tory Zawacki of Duke, 8-2, in the opening round. Last season, Moulton-Levy and Zoricic advanced to the semifinals of the All-American Championship.

Sophomore Ragini Acharya dropped her opening round match in the 32-player main singles draw. The Pulaski, Va., native fell to defending champion Suzi Babos of California, 6-4, 6-3. Babos is ranked No. 4 nationally and seeded No. 4 in the tournament. Acharya, who is ranked No. 90 nationally, dropped to 4-3 on the season. She will compete in the consolation bracket beginning Friday, Oct. 5. Acharya earned a spot in the main draw as a wild card after winning the ITA Summer National Championship.
