Tribe Wraps Up Competition at Wildcat Invitational

Junior Barbara Zidek advanced to the semifinals of the Flight B singles draw at the event.

Evanston, Ill. - Juniors Klaudyna Kasztelaniec and Barbara Zidek wrapped up competition for the William and Mary women’s tennis team at the Wildcat Invitational on Sunday.

Zidek advanced to the semifinals of the Flight B Singles draw, following a quarterfinal victory over Gergana Ganeva of DePaul, 3-6, 6-3, 6-3. The win was Zidek’s second of the tournament and fourth of the season. In the semifinals, Zidek jumped out to a set advantage, winning the opening set, 6-3, against Tijana Koprivica of Minnesota. Koprivica stormed back to earn the spot in the finals by taking the second and third sets, 6-3, 6-3.

Kasztelaniec and Zidek split a pair of consolation doubles matches at the event. The Tribe pair notched their third victory as a team this season downing Mihaldinec and Antunovic of DePaul, 8-6.

The Tribe will return to action at the Hampton Roads Collegiate Invitational in Newport News, Va., Oct. 12-14.
