Ian Fitzgerald Places 14th at Pre-National Invitational

Tribe Finishes 11th in 40-Team White Race

TERRE HAUTE, IND - William and Mary's men's cross country team ran Saturday at the Pre-National Invitational, placing 11th in the 40-team "White" race. No. 20 Texas-El Paso won the race in a shocker over No. 3 Colorado, 129-155. Liberty's Josh McDougal won individual honors with a time of 22:56.4 for the eight-kilometer course.

Senior Ian Fitzgerald (Glenshaw, Pa.) took 14th in the 270-man field, running 23:39.2 to lead the Tribe. Classmate Christo Landry (Falls Church, Va.) was 34th with a time of 23:56.6, and sophomore Ben Massam (Chatham, N.J.) also finished in the top-50, placing 49th in 24:03.3. Colin Leak (Chadds Ford, Pa.) was 82nd in 24:20.2, with sophomore Patterson Wilhelm (Lynchburg, Va.) rounding out the team's scoring-five with a time of 24:59.4. Harry Miller (Portland, Ore.) ran 25:03.8, and David Groff (Centreville, Va.) finished in 25:46.6.

William and Mary now faces two weeks off, before it will try for its 15th Colonial Athletic Association title on October 26, in Farmingdale, New York.
