Men’s Golf Tenth After Two Rounds of Belmont Fall Shootout

NASHVILLE, TENN - William and Mary’s men’s golf team battled gamely Monday at the Belmont Fall Shootout, heading into the clubhouse in 10th place after rounds of 305-300. Akron leads the 12-team field at an even-par 576, four strokes ahead of Cleveland State. Miami of Ohio’s Craig Voorhees, playing as an individual, leads the player standings at 6-under after rounds of 71-67 on the par-72 course.

Junior Brent Paladino (Kensington, Conn.) is tied for sixth overall at 2-under, after cutting six strokes between rounds and closing with 68 in the afternoon. It is his third round under 70 so far this season, tying the number of sub-70 rounds he had all last year. Doug Hurson (Bethesda, Md.) opened with 74 in the morning round to tie Paladino for the team lead at the break, before closing with 79 and finishing the day tied for 43rd. Senior Jonas Miller (Dallas, Texas) is tied for 45th, one shot behind Hurson. Sophomore Conor O’Brien (Weatogue, Conn.) posted the team’s biggest improvement between rounds, cutting eight strokes to shoot 74 in the afternoon and end the day tied for 52nd. Freshman Brandon Parker (Auburn, Mass.), making his first collegiate appearance, cut three strokes between rounds and is tied for 65th.

The Shootout concludes with one round tomorrow morning.
