Women’s Golf Finishes Tied for Fifth at Spider Invitational

Oldenkamp Leads Tribe in Tie for 12th

RICHMOND, VA - William and Mary’s women’s golf team put together a round of 316 on Tuesday to move up into a tie for fifth place at the Spider Invitational. Maryland won the 12-team event by eight strokes over Columbia, but the Lions’ Stevy Loy returned the favor by edging Katie Trotter of the Terrapins by two strokes for the individual medal.

Senior Erika Oldenkamp (Hinsdale, Ill.) led the Tribe for the second consecutive tournament, finishing in a tie for 12th after closing with 78 today. Classmate Misha Harvey (Forest, Va.) shot a team-low 76 to finish one stroke behind Oldenkamp in a tie for 17th. Freshman Katie Murphy (Chesapeake, Va.) carded 80 in the final round to finish in a tie for 21st. Sophomore Morgan Stepanek (Guilford, Conn.) tied for 34th, one ahead of classmate Brielle Paolini (Virginia Beach, Va.), who was competing as an individual. Freshman Sarah Whitney (Hingham, Mass.) rounded out the Tribe’s effort in a tie for 43rd.

William and Mary now has two weeks off before traveling to Southern Pines, North Carolina for the Ross Resorts Invitational, October 29-30.
