Men’s Swimming Falls in Tri-Meet Against North Carolina Teams

Amer, Matthews Earn Pair of Wins

GREENVILLE, N.C. - Juniors Shawn Matthews (Rumson, N.J.) and Nader Amer (Yorktown, Va.) each posted a pair of victories Saturday afternoon, but were unable to pull the men’s swimming and diving teams to victory in a tri-meet against North Carolina State and East Carolina. The Wolfpack ran away from the Tribe, 234-64, while ECU prevailed over the College by a score of 185-104. The Tribe falls to 1-2 (1-0 CAA).

Matthews earned an individual victory against NC State in the 100 back with his time of 52.87, placing second overall in the event. He also placed second overall in the 200 back with a time of 1:53.92, beating all swimmers from East Carolina. Amer posted an individual win against East Carolina in the 100 free, touching the wall in 47.53 seconds. Amer also swam lead-off on the 200 free relay that won against the Pirates in a time of 1:37.14. Joining him on that relay was sophomore Kevin Gallagher (Bridgewater, N.J.), freshman Michael Naccarelli (Wallingford, Pa.), and grad student Nick Duda (Vienna, Va.).

William and Mary has two weeks off before traveling to Fairfax, Virginia on November 2-3 for the CAA Pod Meet against Drexel and George Mason.
