Claire Zimmeck Honored as the National Player of the Week by Top Drawer Soccer

WILLIAMSBURG, Va. - After scoring five goals in the Tribe’s victories against Towson and George Mason during the weekend, junior forward Claire Zimmeck has been selected as the National Player of the Week by Top Drawer Soccer. The honor marks the second time this season that she has been recognized by the organization, as she earned Team of the Week accolades on Sept. 30.

Zimmeck scored three goals in William and Mary’s 4-1 triumph against Towson on Friday, registering the third hat trick of her career. She followed up that performance by tallying both of the College’s scores in the 2-0 win against George Mason on Sunday. In doing so, she increased her career goals total to 39 and moved into sixth place on the program’s all-time list.

The Fairfax, Va., native now leads the Colonial Athletic Association in nearly every offensive category: goals (14), game-winning goals (8), goals per game (0.88), points (28), points per game (1.75), shots (65) and shots per game (4.07). Although the national rankings are yet to be released, Zimmeck’s stats will likely be among the country’s best.

The Tribe will play its final home contest of the season when it hosts Georgia State on Senior Night this Friday at 7 p.m.
