William and Mary Cruises to Fifth Consecutive CAA Championship

FARMINGDALE, N.Y. - No runner in the Colonial Athletic Association can remember a team other than William and Mary winning the conference championship, and that will continue for another year after the Tribe edged James Madison, 40-50, in Friday’s championship race. Georgia State’s Rachel Hannah became the first harrier not from one of those two schools to win the individual title since 1999, running 21:28.4 for the six kilometers.

Senior Erin Prillaman (Midlothian, Va.) led the Tribe for the first time in her career, earning runner-up honors and a place on the all-conference team with her time of 21:56.1. Anna Parker (Charlotte, N.C.) joined Prillaman in earning her second All-CAA nod by running in fourth place with a time of 22:08.3. Sophomore Emily Anderson (Golf, Ill.) was just outside the top-five in sixth place, and senior Emily Gousen (Arlington, Va.) gave the College four on the all-conference by finishing 10th in 22:22.0. Seniors Katie Endres (Sterling, Va.) and Abby Booker (Haddonfield, N.J.) finished 18th and 19th, respectively, and junior Lynn Morelli (Philadelphia, Pa.) finished the team’s scoring effort in 22nd.

The Green and Gold’s remaining five runners all finished in a pack inside the top-30. Sophomore Kayley Byrne (Oak Hill, Va.) led the way in 25th with a time of 22:54.5, and junior Emily Schroeder (Midlothian, Va.) was right behind her in 22:55.3. Freshman Betsy Graney (Harper Woods, Mich.) was 27th in 22:56.2, and sophomore Keely Murphy (Owings, Md.) was 28th in 22:59.1. Freshman Sarrah Hadiji (Annandale, Va.) finished 29th in 23:00.5 in her first appearance of the season.

William and Mary will return to the trails next Saturday, November 3, with the Cavalier Open in Charlottesville, Virginia.
