Kaitlin O’Connor Honored as CAA Co-Rookie of the Week

RICHMOND, Va. - After helping the William and Mary women’s soccer team earn a pair of victories during the weekend, freshman Kaitlin O’Connor has been selected as the Colonial Athletic Association Co-Rookie of the Week. She shares the honor with Kim Chiarelli of Drexel. O’Connor’s selection marks the second time this season that a Tribe player has garnered CAA Rookie of the Week accolades, as Katy Winsper earned the distinction on Oct. 8.

O’Connor scored her first career goal in the College’s 1-0 triumph at UNC Wilmington. The Chantilly, Va., native recorded the game-winner in the 13th minute when she fired a free kick from 25 yards out into the back of the net. O’Connor was also instrumental in helping the Green and Gold post shutouts in both its triumphs.

W&M has won its last five contests and is 12-2-1 in its last 15 matches. During its current winning streak, the Green and Gold have outscored the opposition, 11-1, and have posted four shutouts.

Currently atop the CAA standings with an 8-1-1 record, the Tribe will close out the regular season when it plays at Old Dominion on Thursday at 7 p.m.
