Team Stands Sixth After First Day

SOUTHERN PINES, N.C. - After two rounds at the Ross Resorts Invitational Monday, William and Mary’s women’s golf team is in sixth place, only one stroke from the top-five. Host Rollins College leads the 15-team field by four strokes over Augusta State. Emilie Guery holds a one-shot lead for Augusta State after rounds of 74-73.

The Tribe has three players tied for 13th heading into day two at 13-over (157). Sophomore Morgan Stepanek (Guilford, Conn.) opened with 75 in the morning round before closing with 82, and senior Misha Harvey (Forest, Va.) shot 80-77. Freshman Sarah Whitney (Hingham, Mass.), playing as an individual, is the third Green and Gold linkster in 13th after rounds of 78-79. Senior Erika Oldenkamp (Hinsdale, Ill.) shot 78-81 and is tied for 26th. Freshman Katie Murphy (Chesapeake, Va.) is tied for 50th after rounds of 85-80, and leads the entire tournament in Par-3 scoring with a total score of 2-under in eight holes. Sophomore Brielle Paolini (Virginia Beach, Va.) shot 85-86 and is tied for 72nd.

The tournament concludes Tuesday with one round.
