Tribe to Close Out Regular Season at ODU on Thursday

WILLIAMSBURG, Va. - The William and Mary women’s soccer team will close out the regular season when it plays at Old Dominion on Thursday at 7 p.m. W&M has won its last five contests and is currently atop the Colonial Athletic Association standings.

Last weekend, the Tribe (13-4-1, 8-1-1) earned a pair of victories, defeating Georgia State, 3-0, and UNC Wilmington, 1-0. Junior Claire Zimmeck tallied a pair of goals against the Panthers, while senior Emily Kittleson dished out two assists in the final home match of her career. Freshman Kaitlin O’Connor registered her first career goal with the game-winner against UNCW and was selected as the CAA Co-Rookie of the Week.

During the College’s five-match winning streak, it has outscored the opposition, 11-1, and recorded four shutouts. Additionally, W&M is 12-2-1 in its last 15 contests and has blanked its opponents 12 times this season.

Individually, Zimmeck leads the conference in goals (16), game-winning goals (nine), points (32) and shots (69). Additionally, she ranks eighth nationally with 0.889 goals per game and is tied for 18th with 1.78 points per game. Junior goalkeeper Meghan Walker leads the conference with a 0.44 goals against average, a figure that ranks sixth in the country.

Old Dominion enters Thursday’s contest having lost its last three matches and has a 7-7-2 record overall and a 3-6-1 mark in conference action. Last weekend, the Lady Monarchs fell to UNC Wilmington, 5-1, and at Georgia State, 3-0. Shavon Knight leads the team in scoring with 14 points on six goals and a pair of assists. The Tribe controls the all-time series, 15-2-1.
