Tribe to Play at VCU on Friday

WILLIAMSBURG, Va. - The William and Mary volleyball team will look to extend its winning streak to three when it returns to conference action at Virginia Commonwealth University on Friday at 7 p.m.

With three league games remaining on its slate, W&M is currently fourth in the Colonial Athletic Association standings and just a half game out of second place.

In its last outing, the College earned a 3-0 triumph at non-conference foe Hampton on Tuesday evening. Sophomore Bryana Carey led the Green and Gold with six aces and five kills on .833 (5-0-6) hitting. Junior Kim Mount added a career-high five aces, while classmate Jill Nowadly provided 17 digs.

As a team, the Tribe ranks third in the conference with 18.40 dpg and fourth with 2.38 bpg. Additionally, the squad stands fifth in kills (14.25 kpg) and assists (13.25 apg).

Individually, Mount continues to rank among the CAA’s best in assists and is third with 11.85 apg. Freshman Ginny Bray ranks third in blocks (1.13 bpg), while junior Molly Bohman is eighth with 1.07 bpg. Nowadly ranks seventh in digs (4.22 dpg), and freshman Erin Skipper is 10th with 3.34 kpg.

VCU enters Friday’s match with a 9-17 record overall and a 4-7 mark in conference play. In its last contest, the Rams defeated Radford, 3-2, in Richmond, Va. Elisa Kuehnel led the squad with a team-high 16 kills, while Laryssa Goncalves totaled a match-high 38 digs. Ariel Newman leads the team with 3.06 kpg, while Jessica Ojukwu is averaging 2.60 put-aways on .307 hitting.
