Abby Lauer Selected to the ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District III First Team

WILLIAMSBURG, Va. - William and Mary junior Abby Lauer has been selected to the ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District III First Team. With the honor, Lauer will now be considered for Academic All-America distinction.

Having started every match of her career, Lauer has played an instrumental role in the Tribe’s success. This season, the Oak Hill, Va., native has helped the W&M defensive unit post shutouts in 12 of its 18 contests. In doing so, the College has recorded a 0.43 goals against average, a figure that ranks fourth nationally. Lauer has also contributed three assists.

Lauer is pursuing a major in biology with a minor in French and currently has a GPA better than 3.90. This season’s honor marks the second time she has garnered academic all-district accolades, as she earned second-team honors last season.

The Tribe will close out its regular-season slate when it plays at Old Dominion tonight at 7 p.m. With a victory, W&M can ensure at least a share of the CAA regular-season championship.
