Tribe Duo Competes at National Indoor Championships

The ITA National Indoor Championships are being hosted by the Ohio State University at the Racquet Club of Columbus.

Columbus, Ohio - Senior Megan Moulton-Levy and junior Katarina Zoricic completed in the opening round of the main singles and doubles draws at the ITA Intercollegiate National Indoor Championships on Nov. 1. Moulton-Levy and Zoricic both dropped their opening round singles matches, while the pair also fell in the first round of the main doubles draw.

The Tribe tandem opened the day falling to the Ohio State duo of Christina Keesey and Angela Dipastina in the first round of the main doubles draw, 9-7. It was the No. 1-ranked W&M pair’s second consecutive loss as they fell to 6-2 on the season. Last season, the W&M duo captured the ITA National Indoor Championship.

Moulton-Levy dropped her opening round match to the No. 6 seed Kristi Miller of Georgia Tech, 7-6 (4), 6-4. The match was a battle of two preseason top-10 players. Miller was ranked No. 5 in the preseason ITA singles rankings, while Moulton-Levy was No. 7. The loss was the Tribe All-American’s first of the season as she dropped to 6-1 on the campaign.

Zoricic was the first alternate at the championship and earned a berth in the 32-player main singles draw when the ITA Small College Champion Johanna Dahlback of Armstrong Atlantic State withdrew. Zoricic, who is ranked No. 46 nationally, fell to No. 15-ranked Jessica Nguyen of Stanford, 6-3, 6-3, in the first round.

The ITA National Indoor Championships will continue on Friday, Nov. 2. The doubles consolation quarterfinals are scheduled to begin at 9 a.m., following by the singles draws.
