Emily Schroeder Takes Runner-up Honors at Cavalier Open

Women’s Cross Country Places Three in Top-Five

CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA - William and Mary junior Emily Schroeder (Midlothian, Va.) led the Tribe women’s cross country team the Cavalier Open Saturday, finishing second in 18:36.68. Professional runner Dawn Cromer won the six-kilometer race in 18:05.53.

Right behind Schroeder in third place was true freshman Sarrah Hadiji (Annandale, Va.), running 18:38.53. Sophomore Keely Murphy (Owings, Md.) made it three Green and Gold harriers in the top-five with her fifth-place finish in 18:41.13. Senior Katie Endres (Sterling, Va.) ran seventh in 18:51.13, leading a W&M sweep of the final four spots in the top-10. Sophomore Kayley Byrne (Oak Hill, Va.) ran 18:59.70 for eighth, and junior Emily Arena (Manassas, Va.) was ninth in 19:00.77. Freshman Betsy Graney (Harper Woods, Mich.) rounded out the top-seven for W&M in 10th place with a time of 19:10.93.

Next up for the College is the Southeast Region Championship, November 10 in Louisville, Kentucky. The top two teams earn an automatic berth to the NCAA Championships.
