Claire Zimmeck Selected to the Top Drawer Soccer Team of the Season First Team

WILLIAMSBURG, Va. - After an outstanding regular season, William and Mary junior forward Claire Zimmeck has been selected to the Top Drawer Soccer Team of the Season First Team. The honor marks the second consecutive season that the organization has recognized Zimmeck, as she earned second-team honors last year.

Chosen as the Colonial Athletic Association Player of the Year for the second consecutive season, Zimmeck continued to establish herself as one of the nation’s top players. The Fairfax, Va., native led the Tribe and the conference with 16 goals and ranks eighth nationally with 0.842 goals per game. Additionally, Zimmeck tallied a league-best 32 points and nine game-winning goals.

Zimmeck scored at least one goal in 10 of W&M’s 19 matches and recorded five multi-goal matches. Highlighting her impressive season was a three-match span in late October when she tallied seven goals in wins against Towson, George Mason and Georgia State. Additionally, she provided the game-winner in the 1-0 triumph against then-No. 2 North Carolina. With 41 career goals, Zimmeck ranks fifth on the program’s all-time list.

The top-seeded Tribe will begin its quest for the Colonial Athletic Association championship when it squares off against fourth-seeded Virginia Commonwealth University in a semifinal matchup on Friday evening at the Virginia Beach Sportsplex at 7:30 p.m.
