Katie Radloff Earns Fifth CAA Swimmer of the Week Award

RICHMOND, VA - William and Mary sophomore Katie Radloff (Arlington, Va.) was named the Colonial Athletic Association’s Female Swimmer of the Week, the conference office announced on Tuesday. It is the second such award of the season for Radloff, and the fifth in her career.

Radloff was honored for her outstanding performance this weekend at the Terrapin Cup Invitational, where she won four events (three individual, one relay) and was the team’s top finisher in each of her events. Most impressively, Radloff won the 100 freestyle in 49.30 seconds, automatically qualifying for the NCAA Championships with the country’s fourth-best performance of the season thus far. Her time broke the school and conference records she set last year at the Terrapin Invitational by a full quarter-second, and also reset the pool record.

In the 50 free, Radloff won with an NCAA provisional-qualifying time of 22.92 seconds, tying her own school record in the process. Radloff also won the 200 free in an NCAA-provisional time of 1:49.86, marking the second year in a row that she has swept the sprint freestyle events at the Terrapin Cup Invitational. Her fourth win came while swimming anchor on the College’s 800 free relay that timed 7:25.68, the second-best performance in school history.

Radloff earned a bronze medal in the 100 backstroke, timing a personal-best 57.10 seconds to become the second-fastest performer in school history in the event. She also swam anchor on the Tribe’s top 200 free relay team that took second in 1:34.27, tying the school record. Radloff capped off her busy weekend swimming anchor on the 400 free and medley relays.

Radloff and the rest of the Tribe will return to action on December 1, traveling to Fredericksburg, Virginia to take on the University of Mary Washington at 2 p.m.
