Lindsay Guers Wins Three, Leads Tribe to 106-91 Victory over Eagles

FREDERICKSBURG, VA - Sophomore Lindsay Guers (Orwigsburg, Pa.) won two events on her own Saturday against Mary Washington and swam on the 200 free relay that posted the day’s top mark to lead the William and Mary women’s swimming team to a 106-91 victory. With the win, the Tribe finishes the fall semester on a three-match winning streak and 3-3 (2-1 CAA) overall.

Complete Results

Guers cruised past the competition in the 200 IM with a time of 2:11.29, and followed up with a victory in the 100 back, timing 59.80 seconds. W&M exhibitioned all competitors in the last three events (500 free, 100 breast, and 200 free relay), but Guers and her teammates Emily Burns (Snellville, Ga.), Haley Smith (Ridgefield, Conn.), and Meredith David (Somerdale, N.J.) posted the top relay time of 1:39.84.

Three athletes each earned a pair of victories, and all of them started the day in the 200 medley relay. NCAA qualifiers Katie Radloff (Arlington, Va.) and Marina Falcone (Potomac, Md.) teamed with freshman Carolyn Royce (Midlothian, Va.) and sophomore Laura Herrmann (Fairfax Station, Va.) to win the event in 1:51.31. Radloff would go on to victory in the 200 free, timing 1:54.54, while Falcone earned her second in the 100 free (54.62 seconds). Herrmann posted her second win of the day in the 100 fly, touching the wall in 59.87 seconds.

Also victorious for the College was sophomore Courtney Alles (Manassas Park, Va.), leading the 1,000 free in 10:53.44. No diving events were held, due to lack of a suitable facility.

After a break for exams and the winter holidays, the Tribe will return to action on January 12, hosting the College of Charleston at 2 p.m. in Williamsburg.
