Women’s Track Earns Four ECAC-Qualifications at Liberty Kickoff

LYNCHBURG, VA - William and Mary’s women’s track and field team posted four ECAC-qualifying performances Saturday at the Liberty Kickoff, including two in the mile run.

Sophomore Emily Anderson (Golf, Ill.) won the mile with a personal-best effort of 4:53.17 to qualify for the eastern championships. Her performance also ranks seventh all-time in school history. Classmate Meghan Burns (Coopersburg, Pa.) also broke the 5-minute barrier and qualified for the ECAC Championships, running 4:59.20 for fourth place.

In the 800m run, senior Allie Lewis (Roanoke, Va.) was just off of personal-best pace, running 2:12.91 to take second in today’s race and clear the ECAC standard. Sophomore Kelly McElroy (Wyomissing, Pa.) was fourth in the race with a time of 2:24.38.

Sophomore Kayley Byrne (Oak Hill, Va.) ran 17:29.10 to win the 5,000m and qualify for ECACs. Senior Erin Prillaman (Midlothian, Va.) was fourth in 17:44.45, and sophomore Sallie Ford (Lynchburg, Va.), running in front of family and friends, took fifth in 18:10.67.

Sophomore Carly Morse (Sumerduck, Va.) won the shot put with a best-throw of 41’ 5.25”, while classmate Ashley Williams (Williamsburg, Va.) was fourth with a put of 40’ 3.25”.

The Tribe returns to the track next Saturday, December 8, at the CNU Holiday Open in Newport News, Virginia.
