Tribe Headlines ITA East Region Rankings

Williamsburg - The William and Mary women’s tennis team dominated the ITA East Region rankings released on Dec. 13. Tribe players held down five of the top 19 singles positions and three of the top six doubles slots in the standings.

Senior Megan Moulton-Levy, who won the ITA East Region singles title, was ranked No. 1 in the East Region for the third straight season. The Monroe, Mich., native was ranked No. 7 in the preseason ITA singles rankings and is 8-2 overall on the year. She garnered both her 100th career singles and doubles victories during the fall season.

Sophomore Ragini Acharya and junior Katarina Zoricic followed Moulton-Levy in fourth and fifth in the regional rank-ings, respectively. Acharya finished the fall season at 13-5 overall with all five losses coming to opponents ranked in the top-80 nationally. She also owns a trio of wins over nationally ranked foes. Zoricic defeated three nationally ranked opponents during the fall campaign on her way to seven singles victories.

Junior Klaudyna Kasztelaniec and sophomore Magdalena Bresson round out the regionally ranked contingent for the Tribe at No. 11 and No. 19. Kasztelaniec finished the fall at 8-4 overall, while Bresson led the Tribe with 14 fall singles victories.

Moulton-Levy and Zoricic, who were ranked No. 1 in the preseason ITA doubles rankings, were ranked No. 2 in the East Region standings behind the Marshall pair of Karolina Soor and Kellie Schmitt at the conclusion of the fall. The Tribe duo finished the fall season at 7-3 overall.

Zoricic also earned a top-five regional doubles rankings with Acharya. The duo was 8-4 during the fall and also tallied a pair of wins over nationally ranked opponents. Acharya teamed with Bresson to comprise the final regionally ranked Tribe doubles pair at No. 6. The sophomore tandem went 6-1 during the fall season.

William and Mary will open the spring season with a pair of road affairs against Big Ten competition. The College will open at Michigan State on Saturday, Jan. 19, beginning at 10:30 a.m., before traveling to Northwestern for a noon start on Sunday, Jan. 20.
