Zimmeck and O’Connor Earn National Honors From Soccer Buzz

WILLIAMSBURG, Va. - Junior Claire Zimmeck and freshman Kaitlin O’Connor have been recognized with All-America honors by Soccer Buzz. Zimmeck was selected to the third team, while O’Connor was chosen to the Freshman All-America Second Team.

Zimmeck had an outstanding junior season, as she was one of 15 semifinalists for the Missouri Athletic Club Hermann Trophy. Additionally, she garnered third-team All-America honors from the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) and was chosen as the Colonial Athletic Association Player of the Year.

The Fairfax, Va., native finished the regular season ranked sixth nationally with 0.842 goals per game and ranked among the conference’s best in virtually every offensive category, totaling 17 goals, 10 game-winning goals and 34 points. Zimmeck scored at least one goal in 11 of W&M’s 22 matches and recorded five multi-goal efforts.

O’Connor was a key member of the W&M defensive unit that allowed just 0.48 goals per game and posted 13 shutouts. A first-team all-conference selection, she finished the season with eight points on three goals and a pair of assists. The Chantilly, Va., native also earned a spot on the CAA All-Rookie Team.
